Congratulations to Tim Rhodes who won the Centenary Porringer, on a countback, on Saturday 14 June.

PGC hosted its annual golf day on behalf of Saint Michael’s Hospice on Monday 16 June. The day raised more than £12,600 for the hospice. A big thank you to all the teams that entered and everyone donating prizes and auction items to help make the day a success. The Pannal Ladies Captains team won with 91 points, who are pictured below (Vicky Eyre, Carole Whiles, Amanda Dunn & Alison Stratford) receiving their prize from Men’s Captain, Andrew Asquith.

On Tuesday 17 June 36 ladies took part in the Ladies 18-hole Medal competition, which was also the Audrey Charles Rosebowl. Division 1 was won by Gail Witcomb, nett 68. Gail’s round included 8 pars. In second place was Clare Davies, nett 70. Ann McDonough came in third with nett 72. Division 2 was won by Susan Asquith, nett 71, including 4 pars. Sue Wilby, nett 73 was in second place, Helen Mountford taking third place with nett 76. Division 3 was topped by Val Jackson, nett 68. Anne Parkinson and Carol Clayton were both nett 71, Anne taking second place on countback. Overall, there were 11 ladies who scored below par on the day, well done everyone. The winner of the Audrey Charles Rosebowl was Gail Witcomb, this will be presented to Sue at the Lady Captain’s Day dinner in July.

Four ladies took part in the 9 hole Stableford competition, Sandra Dewey taking first place with 21 points.

On Saturday 21 June a Stableford was held. Alan Pater won division 1 with 3 birdies and 12 pars beating Robert Booth by 1 point. James Gardiner won division 2 with 1 birdie and 10 pars beating Anthony Robinson by 3 points. Vince Chambers won division 3 with 2 birdies and 8 pars beating Ross Kneller in a card play-off. Shot of the day was Neil Normington on 18th, driving the ball to 2 feet. He was congratulated afterwards by playing partner, Gary Macnair for getting a birdie!
