Saturday 28th March saw a 4BBB Stableford competition with a twist where all scores were to count on the last three holes resulting in a par score of 42 points. The clear winners with an incredible score of 55 points were J. Chalmers and J. Chalmers a full 7 points clear of third place.
Tuesday 24th March saw 52 ladies play in our annual Ladies’ Captain’s Team v Ladies’ Secretary’s Team Match. Sadly the match was reduced to 9 holes because of the weather, but it was hugely enjoyable with many close matches, some going to the last hole and even the last putt! However, it was the Ladies’ Captain’s Team, who eventually claimed the trophy with an 8-5 victory. Following a well-earned afternoon tea, the ladies celebrated outgoing Ladies’ Captain, Vicky Eyre’s (pictured right) year in office, and received a start of year presentation before several trophy presentations were made. Pictured is our new Ladies’ Captain, Sue White (left) receiving the match trophy.
The previous week on Tuesday 17th March 35 ladies played in the 18 hole Red Tee 'Mad March Hare' competition, which was a Stableford format, though with a twist of a maximum of 5 clubs, including putter, in the players bag.
Division 1: 1st Ruth Skaife-Clarke (35 pts), runner up on count back Moira Rusling (35 pts)
Division 2: 1st Joanne McCormack (38 pts), runner up Carol Wakelin (34 pts)
Division 3: 1st Carol Clayton (33 pts), runner up on count back Steph Turner (33 pts)
8 Ladies played in the 9 hole 'Mad March Hare', which had the same format as the 18 hole competition, though from the Green Tees, in 1st place was Jackie Smart (13 pts), runner up on count back Joy Bowler (13 pts).
