The Ladies 18 hole Stableford competition on Tuesday 5th August had 42 entries. Division 1 was topped by Ann Whiteley, achieving her lowest ever score at Pannal and amassing 43 points. Ann had 6 pars and 4 birdies, including a 2 on the par three 10th and 17th holes. Bella Mountain came second, 37 points, Lynne Roberts third, 34 points. Susie Stuart-Brown pipped Betsy Haldon to first place in division 2 on countback, both ladies scored 39 points. Third place went to Vanda McKenzie, 37 points. Not to be outdone, division 3 also had some high scores, Val Jackson 40 points, Bernie Ruffell 37 points, Vicki Nee 35 points.
The ladies also held a new event this week, a ‘mini exchange’ with Rudding Park. 15 Pannal ladies played 18 holes in the morning (in the individual Stableford competition), followed by 18 holes at Rudding in the afternoon (a tri-am with 2 scores to count per hole), at the same time a number of Rudding ladies played 18 holes at Pannal. In the afternoon at Rudding, the winning team, with an impressive 77 points in windy conditions, was Sophie Jacob, Natalie Boyle and Gail Witcomb. In second place was Vanda Mckenzie, Clare Davies and Mandy Dunn with 67 points. Pannal met up with some of the Rudding ladies afterwards and had a thoroughly enjoyable day.
On Saturday 9th August the August Medal & Barber Bratby was held. Geoff Hickling won division 1 going out in 40 coming back in 36 with 2 birdies and 12 pars beating Jon Clayton in a card play off. Neil Douglas won division 2 going out in 39 coming back in 39 with 1 birdie and 11 pars beating Michael Cliff in a card play off. Michael Holmes won division 3 going out in 43 coming back in 39 with 1 birdie and 6 pars beating Paul Robinson in a card play off.
