24 ladies braved the wet and windy weather on Tuesday 15th July to play the 18 hole medal competition, which was also the annual Centenary Comport trophy competition. The top three ladies in division 1 all scored nett 77. On countback Anne Padgett was first, Sophie Jacob second, Gail Witcomb third. Anne’s round included 5 pars. Vanda McKenzie was top of division 2 with nett 69, including 1 birdie and 3 pars. Val Smith-Jackman, nett 72, was second, followed by Alison Stratford, nett 75. Division 3 had another nett 69, Dee Miller, who had 4 pars. Second and third places in division 3 were Zoe Laver and Lydia Scott respectively. The winner of the Centenary Comport trophy, on countback, was Vanda McKenzie.

6 ladies played in the 9 hole green course Stableford competition, top scorer was Joy Bowler with 21 points.

Friday 18th July was the Past Lady Captain’s trophy competition, which is a Stableford competition played over 13 holes. Susan Taylor and Joy Bowler both had a super score of 29 points, Susan taking first place on countback. Susan’s round included two pars and an impressive birdie on the par 5 6th hole. Susan was lady captain in 2014 and this was her first time winning the trophy, so she was understandably delighted. Following the competition the Ladies enjoyed lunch together and the trophy was presented to Susan by the current Lady Captain, Vicky Eyre.

The Men’s Competition, “Road to Birkdale” was cancelled on Saturday 19 July due to adverse weather and has been rescheduled for 2 August.

On Sunday 20th July the Annual Memorial Trophy was held. Due to thunder and lightning the competition was reduced to 13 holes. The winners were as follows:

1st Gerry Callender & Jim Cropper 32 points

2nd Dawn Fabbroni & Ros Samuel’s 31 points (count back)

3rd Vanda & Lindsay McKenzie 31 points
