Point of clarification from Thursday 24th July 2025. The winner of the Past Lady Captain’s trophy was Susan Taylor and not Sandra Taylor, as reported in last week’s edition.

42 Ladies played in the 18-hole Stableford competition on Tuesday 22nd July. Ladies could choose to play from the red or yellow tees. Division one winner, Sophie Jacob had another super round of golf, scoring 41 points, her round included 11 pars and 2 birdies, from the longer yellow tees too! Hilary Ingram came second with 36 points, Hilary had a super back 9, scoring 23 points, to recover her less good score on the front nine. Pam Dodds came third with 35 points. Susie Stuart-Brown led division two with 39 points, closely followed by Rebecca Booth, 38 points, Helen Mountford in third place, 36 points. Carol Clayton won division 3, 38 points. Second and third places both had 34 points, Val Jackson taking second place from Helen Pettit on countback.

Congratulations to Ruth Skaife-Clarke (pictured below) was selected to play in the Yorkshire Senior team against Cheshire on Monday at Wakefield. Cheshire are the current holders of the Northern Inter County championship (Richardson Trophy). Taking on the Cheshire captain Caroline Berry, Ruth displayed nerves of steel to record a 5 & 4 win but sadly the team just missed out, losing 3 - 4.

On Saturday 27th July the Jock Ballantine Medal was held, and the winner was Gareth Whiles with a net 65.

Jordan Jonas won division 1 going out in 36 coming back in 38 with 2 birdies and 12 pars beating Simon Rothwell by 2 shots. Gareth Whiles won division 2 going out in 34 coming back in 37 with 1 eagle, 3 birdies and 10 pars beating Richard Little by 2 shots. John Whiteley won division 3 going out in 41 coming back in 45 with 6 pars beating Peter Turton by 1 shot. There were 15 two’s recorded, including Gareth Whiles two on the first hole!
